(as opposed to the Fender-style 6 tuning pegs on the same side).
You play this part by alternately strumming the bottom 3 and top
3 strings (in groups/pairs) on the headstock, above/behind the
nut and fretboard. That's how Ian MacKaye produces that
"ping-ping PONG, picka-ping PONG" sound during the chorus.
